Book Review

EAT FOOD. NOT TOO MUCH. MOSTLY PLANTS.

I love this slogan. It is by Michael Pollan, who has written a couple of books on the subject of food. The first one I read, The Omnivore’s Dilemma, looks at where our food comes from. The information on factory farming will give even the staunchest carnivore reason for pause. Very thought provoking stuff. Although this guy is not saying people need to become vegetarians, he does recommend a plant based diet. He is advocating that we move our dining out of the car and back to the table. To slow down and eat real food that might take more than a few minutes to microwave and to eschew the use of packaged “foods”.

  1. I do enjoy his books. It’s a good message. I’ve come across some who call him elitist. Is it elitist to want to know where your food comes from? Perhaps it seems a luxury to some, who have trouble putting anything to eat on the table.
