Detox Day 1: What To Eat When You’re Off Sugar/Wheat!

Started the day with some greens powder (I like Vitamineral Greens, natural taste, no icky sweeteners) plus a smoothie consisting of 1/2 banana, 1 c. frozen strawberries, 1 tsp. maca powder, 4 ice cubes, 1 scoop Vanilla Sunwarrior Rice Protein powder, 1/2 c. almond milk, 1/2 c. coconut milk. It was tres delish!

Had a couple of green teas throughout the day. Good for increasing metabolism!

Lunch, at school, was a large thermos of Curried Red Lentil and Carrot Soup.

After school, I had to get groceries and ended up walking past all manner of sweet and doughy goodies in Whole Food Market.  I just may have eaten a few samples (but none with sugar or wheat!!)

I was hungry when I got home, so I scarfed down a whole container of organic raspberries and an organic Gala apple. Apples and berries are low sugar fruit choices. After that, still feeling a little peckish and needing some protein, I moved on to a couple of handfuls of pistachios and some Mary’s crackers with caramelized onion hummus.

Dinner was a big salad with romaine lettuce, sweet onion, red pepper, goat’s milk feta cheese, lemon, olive oil and some steamed asparagus. Then some dehydrated vegetable flax crackers with almond butter and another smoothie, this time with 1 scoop of chocolate Sunwarrior Protein powder, 1/2 c. almond milk, 1/2 c. coconut milk, 1 T. raw cacao powder, 4 ice cubes and 1/4 banana.

  1. I had tons of fruit and veggies today. It was a good day overall, but I did have my favorite tea so about a tablespoon of sugar.
