Okay, so I want to share what I have learned about life with other people. I have two young sons and I would like to guide and help them know more at a younger age than I did about a lot of things I have learned the hard way!
I am kind of a jack-of-all-trades. I like creative pursuits such as painting, drawing, writing, cooking and photography. I have been a reluctant keeper of a house or two. Being somewhat, um, “laid back” when it comes to cleaning and other tasks that can feel like drudgery, I have devised systems to limit the amount of time spent sweeping and scrubbing. Housekeeping is kind of like shoveling snow when it is still snowing, with no end in sight. I would rather be reading a book and sipping tea than scrubbing my tiles with a toothbrush. Procrastination in this area is usually a pretty good idea, as long as you can ignore the dust for awhile. I find it much more fulfilling to really see a difference when I finally get inspired to clean. This usually happens whenever we are expecting visitors.
I am also passionate about the environment. I like to re-use and recycle. I try to use the car as little as possible. I compost. I grow vegetables and herbs every year. I like to use natural, non-toxic products.
I have been a fitness trainer for 24 years and a vegetarian cook for almost as long. I have been moving away from eggs and dairy in recent years and I am working on recipes that use whole foods, so I will be sharing what I have learned about a healthy vegetarian and/or vegan diet. I am also trying to curb a rather severe sweet tooth. I will probably never completely give up my chocolate though, especially since learning that the dark type in particular is actually kind of healthy, with antioxidants and other good stuff in there.
I struggle with routines, schedules and organization, but I have read every book ever written on the subject and maybe we can work on it together.
If you have any suggestions or questions, I would love to hear from you!
