They don’t look so good when you think about what they do to your skin! |
If feeling better and being healthier is not enough motivation, how about your looks? Did you know that sugar in the body promotes and accelerates the appearance of sagging skin and wrinkles?
The consumption of lots of sugar encourages glycation, where proteins attach to sugars to form harmful molecules called AGEs (advanced glycation end products) which damage the collagen and elastin in our skin, causing it to become dry and brittle! AGEs also deactivate antioxidants that protect us from sunlight, with resultant photoaging.
I will never look at a cupcake the same way again!

They have cookies at work. I don't eat anything like them at home and so I don't eat them there. But at work, it is not easy to stop myself. Recently I read that you should say to yourself "I could eat a cookie, but I chose not to." I have tried this and this has helped me stop eating the junk. Instead I grab a green apple also supplied.
A few years ago I wouldn't have been conscious of this even being an issue, but now I am more aware.

That is great – you are also avoiding a lot of bad fats since pretty much all processed foods are full of unhealthy oils too!
