This account made me cry and also made me think a lot about our whole food system. Written by social activist and humanitarian, John Robbins (who gave up his Baskin-Robbins fortune for ethical reasons) this story of a pig farmer didn’t turn out as I expected when I first started reading.
I ended up feeling greatly for the poor farmer, whose life circumstances led to doing things he hated in his heart and some of the tragic things that happened to him in childhood made me weep with sadness. The whole system of factory farming is so evil I don’t think even the most carnivorous person would support it if they were aware of the suffering involved.
