Here is my aforementioned stevia plant. When I make a green smoothie or juice, I add a few leaves.
Since I live in Canada, with freezing winter temperatures soon to come, I will probably have to buy another plant next year. It is possible to do root cuttings to propogate more plants or, if you live in a warmer climate, you can plant this in the garden and enjoy it for a few seasons!
The leaves are not as super sweet as the processed white powder you buy in the store, but it is fun to have your own natural source of sweetness right outside your kitchen door. It is important to pinch out the tips to prevent flowering. Apparently the taste is best once cooler weather arrives, so if you are going to harvest and dry the plant before winter, wait until later in the autumn.
I purchased my plant at Humber Nurseries in Toronto, but I know that Richter’s Herbs ships via courier across all of North America.

Stevia is fantastic I use it everyday in all of my drinks and sweet cravings. I've even used the actual plant leaf as you mentioned you are using. It's great and I've lost about 15 pounds using it.
If you want you learn more about Stevia though you can check out this blog Stevia Powder Guide to get more information on this amazing all natural sweetener that in no time I believe will take over a huge share of the market.
