I scrolled back and was kind of shocked to realize that it has been a year since I first wrote about the idea of cutting back, way back, on shopping. I think I have curtailed my recreational and unnecessary shopping a lot this year, but not to the extent I initially had in mind.
My original idea was a total ban on shopping, with the exception of food, underwear and shoes for the kids. In the back of my mind, niggling thoughts about missed opportunities for great deals on things I would never see again made me hold back from making a full commitment.
I did pretty well, but I think my goal for the new year will be much more stringent.
Has anyone else managed to do this – no recreational shopping for an entire year?
