I hope you are joining our two-week, free group cleanse starting on Monday!
You might want to go out this weekend and stock up on some grocery items that will make your life easier and more organized once we get started. Since we are going to be cutting out foods that are hard to resist, we need to make sure we eat things that are packed full of nutrients and help curb those cravings for chocolate or bread.
An easy way to get lots of super nutritious greens in our diet is to make a green smoothie for breakfast in addition to eating salads and steamed vegetables.
Greens of all types are particularly good sources of vitamins and minerals and an easy and delicious way to get lots of them in our diet is to start the day with a blended drink that includes one or more green leafy vegetables and fruit plus any number of additions, including protein powder, hemp hearts, soaked almonds and flavorings like vanilla.
My favorite protein powder is Sunwarrior sprouted rice protein which comes in plain, vanilla and chocolate flavors. This supplement is sweetened with stevia and is less chalky than other brands of rice protein I have tried.
To make your green smoothie, all you need is a blender! I love my powerful Vita-Mix blender, but I have heard the inexpensive Magic Bullet is also pretty good. It is smart to rotate the greens you use and be aware that some are high in oxalic acid (spinach is one example) and goitrogens (so if you have any thyroid issues, you might want to stick to romaine lettuce instead of kale). Avocadoes are a great addition to add creaminess. You can also add super supplements like Maca (an adaptogen) and GMO free lecithin for cell integrity and brain enhancing phosphatidyl choline.
