I just had some fermented cabbage – better known as sauerkraut and was it ever good! There is no comparison between this yummy treat and the canned, vinegar doused, cooked variety, plus it contains healthy probiotics to keep your tummy happy.
I found my jar in a refrigerated case at Whole Foods for $4.99. I have made my own version of fermented/cultured vegetables in the past, but since I can never stick to a recipe, I threw in grated carrot, beet, garlic, onion, miso, and who knows what else, to my version. I enjoyed my cultured vegetables, but I am thinking I may just prefer the plain old cabbage version Bubbie’s produces.
