Lentil Sprouts – A Little Known Fact . . .

You don’t need to buy any fancy packaged sprouting lentils. You can make your own very cheaply and easily without buying any equipment whatsoever!

And here is the surprise: I used plain old ordinary lentils from the supermarket. Organic is best, of course!

First step – rinse the lentils and look for any rocks.

Second step – cover with double the amount of water and soak 8-12 hours.

Third step – drain and rinse the lentils two times a day in a colander or sieve.

To eat the sprouts raw, wait until there is at least a 1/2″ tail on them!

Here, in the photo, the lentils are just starting to sprout. In a day or two more, they will be fully sprouted and ready to eat.

At any point in the process you can go ahead and cook them as you would unsprouted lentils and the nutritional value will be higher than if you had not sprouted them at all.
