Find your Style

I just read an interesting book which describes a process of getting to know yourself better by choosing two words to describe yourself.

The first word, describes your core being, 80% of who you are, and the second word describes your creative edge, what motivates and distinguishes you. This 80/20 principle applies to many areas of life, including wardrobe, where you use 80 percent of your things 20 percent of the time and 20 percent of your things 80 percent of the time. If you can identify what it is about those things that makes you choose them over and over, you have the key to creating a life that is true to who you really are.

I am having trouble picking just two words, but Dream Improvise or Imagine Create seem to resonate. I think I am pretty complicated, so it is hard to nail down the essence of who I am, since it changes all the time. At first, I wanted to say Simple Creative, because, due to that inherent complexity, I often feel overwhelmed and crave simplicity. My biggest fear is boredom above all else. A friend once told me the one word he would use to describe me is, “unpredictable”.

Anyhow, enough about me! How about you? I am going to enjoy mulling this over and trying to apply it to my life so I can make better decisions.

The idea behind finding the two words that define your authentic self is to guide you in creating your ideal life. There are questionnaires throughout the book designed to get you thinking about who you really are and what you really want.

This book provides a tool that will help you make better choices and create a life where your essence meets your expression in a wonderful, authentic way.
